Laser hair removal is designed to target hair follicles which destroys the hair roots and stops hair to grow further or for a longer period than waxing or shaving. It minimally impacts the surrounding skin making the procedure totally safe for your skin. Light naturally passes through the outer layer of skin to target the darker pigment found in the hair follicle, including the root. Once the light reaches the follicle it damages it and destroys hair roots. This prevents hair growth if hair is at the appropriate stage in the hair growth cycle. It can treat any of the body part though small areas are treated in few minutes. There are basically two factors which can decide whether it will work permanently for you or not.
- The hair growth: one treatment is not enough for any problem so does in the case of laser hair removal. This stops hair from growing but only 1/3 of the total targeted hair. The hairs which are not in the right stage of growth might fall off after the treatment so it cannot be a permanent solution. Although the growth would be paler and thinner still single treatment will not be sufficient for permanent results. Number of follow up sessions and also all the instructed precautions needed to be followed.
- Type of laser & skin type: earlier laser wasn’t an option for people with dark skin or tough tanned skin, now with advancement in technology it works for every skin type and complexion. Advances in laser technology give us more options today to treat a wider variety of skin tones with minimal difficulty, but your skin tone and hair colour will play a large role in determining what type of laser treatment and how many sessions you will need to undergo to get the results you want.
At Dezire Clinic, Dr. Prashant Yadav will recommend you the number of sessions required during your consultation with him. We use DIODE and CANDULA lasers FDA approved for best results. Cool gel is applied on the targeted area to avoid any stingy pain or irritation during the procedure, and then laser is passed through it targeting your hair follicle and destroying hair roots along with hairs. There is no permanent laser hair removal if you ask as it all depends on the number of sessions you are taking and after care. For long-term results you need to follow the prescribed number of sessions depending on your skin type and hair thickness.
