- Patients with significant amount of fat and skin need full abdominoplasty. This surgery also tightens abdominal muscles. This surgery is generally performed under general anesthesia or sometimes under intravenous sedation. The entire procedure takes somewhere between 2.5-5 hours depending upon amount of work that needs to be done.
- Some patients have just some excess fat which may not be completely removed by liposuction. Those patients can benefit from mini abdominoplasty. This surgery can be performed under general anesthesia. The procedure takes between 1.5-2 hours. The recovery from mini tummy tuck is faster than standard tummy tuck. Mini tummy tuck scar is smaller than standard abdominoplasty as the mini tummy tuck incision needed is smaller than standard tummy tuck.

Anesthesia is given using intravenous sedation
Then, very tiny incisions are made wherever the liposuction is needed. Generally somewhere between 2-4 tiny incisions are made. The abdominal area is filled with a tumescent saline solution that contains local anesthetic and helps numb the site and shrink the blood vessels (this will minimize any blood loss and reduce bruising). This saline solution wets and fills the area to be treated, making it easier to break up fatty tissue with the Vaser system’s ultrasound energy.
Finally, a gentle suction is used to remove the liquefied or melted fat. This process minimizes trauma to surrounding tissue structures such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue. This approach promotes smooth results and rapid healing.
Mini tummy tuck can be performed under general anesthesia .Before beginning the tummy tuck procedure Dr prashant Yadav will carefully mark the area to be treated. The places where the incisions will be made will also be carefully marked.
Mini tummy tuck surgery lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the nature of the procedure: skin tightening, fat removal, abdominal muscle correction.
A much smaller incision than regular tummy tuck is made, hence the recovery is faster and scarring is minimal.
The rectus muscles, better known as the ‘six pack’, are tightened with sutures and the extra skin, tissue and fat are removed through the incision. To remove excess fat, liposuction is frequently used to achieve the desired result. Finally, sutures are placed to close the incision and drains may be inserted in the area to aid in the prevention of fluid retention.

After the treatment the incisions are bandaged. If there are drains inserted leading from the bandages to drain off any fluid from the wound, these drains usually need to stay in place for two days. You are dressed in the special elastic / compression bandage which you were previously measured for.
Aftercare and Recovery
After the procedure you will be individually advised to wear the elastic bandage or compression garments for between 2-4 weeks. The compression bandages provide support: which will feel comfortable. The compression garment ensures that the skin around the stomach becomes nice and tight. Therefore it is best to wear the compression garment day and night.
- The scars must be kept dry until the stitches are removed.
- The stitches will be removed about a week after the procedure.
- You may then take a luke-warm shower but not a bath.
- The subcutaneous stitches are self-dissolving.
- After the procedure you will be given a 3-day course of antibiotics.
- Majority of swelling goes down in a month
- Allow yourself a minimum of 2 weeks to rest after the procedure.
- A week after the procedure you can resume light daily activities.
- After 6 weeks you can resume your sporting activities and lifting and exercise.
It is important to not subject the scar under any pressure for a few weeks after stomach correction surgery. The first 3 months after treatment the scar will be red and lumpy; after this the redness will start to fade. After 12 to 18 months the scars are fully healed, until this time it is important to protect your scar from the sun.
Risks and Complications
